Most manufacturers go by measuring the length from the seam between the collar and shoulder to the bottom of the garment. For width, measure across the chest from under the arm seam to the opposite side (or around the entire chest for some manufacturers).

Everyone is different and so are fabrics! It’s best to refer to the washing instructions on the manufacturer tag of the item for best results. Grandma's advice though, which is what I go by, is to hang it dry. Garments with art designs stay vibrant longer when they are not exposed to high heat.
